A STEM-Certified Degree Program
Build a career in the world of finance as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or as a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). This program is carefully designed to train client-facing professionals in understanding, translating and presenting complex financial instruments to their clients.
The UCR Master of Finance curriculum provides the essential financial acumen you need to impact and lead the financial management industry. It builds financial analysis skills that can be applied to national and international careers in corporate finance, investment banking and risk management.
Master of Professional AccountancyThis program builds a career in accounting through advanced education in audit and assurance, taxation, accounting information systems and ethics. It prepares you with the knowledge required to qualify as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
Two tracks are offered: Track One is for applicants with a degree or major in accounting and can be completed in 9 months. Track Two is for applicants without an accounting background and can be completed in 15 months.

The Master of Professional Accountancy is a STEM-Certified degree program (science, technology, engineering and math). International students in a STEM-designated program are granted extended stay to work in the U.S. and are eligible to apply for 36 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT) in their field of study after graduation.

- The Master of Finance program is open for admission to all students. The program is best suited for students with a sufficient quantitative background and foundation of knowledge to support successful completion of the program. The most complementary undergraduate majors include business, engineering, mathematics, statistics and physics, among others. Students with less quantitative backgrounds may also apply, but should expect to take electives or additional courses to develop their quantitative skills.

The MPAc program is open to eligible students with an accounting background gained from undergraduate coursework, prior work experience, or a combination of both. We accept applicants with undergraduate degrees in business, accounting, economics and other related fields.
Prerequisites for AdmissionApplicants must have completed the following accounting courses (UCR course numbers for reference) or their equivalents at another institution:
- Financial Accounting and Reporting (BUS 020)
- One year of Intermediate Financial Accounting (BUS 165A/B/C)
- One auditing course:
- Auditing (BUS 169A)
- Quality Assurance in Auditing (BUS 169B)
- One taxation course:
- Individual Taxation (BUS 168A)
- Federal Taxation for Corporations, Partnerships, Estates, and Trusts (BUS 168B)
- One cost or managerial accounting course:
- Financial Evaluation and Managerial Analysis (BUS 108)

Additionally, all applicants must have completed 5-6 business courses outside of accounting.
