Quick Facts:

  • Prioritizing your time is a crucial skill you will need to learn during your MBA. Simonil reminds students that there are so many interesting things happening around campus, that there won’t be enough hours in the day to do everything. With practice, you will figure out how to decide which activities are important and worth completing.
  • Having friends and family support you throughout your MBA journey will push you to succeed academically and professionally. Having a strong support system should not be taken for granted. Simonil explains:

Chosen Quote:

My career path so far has been unconventional – after completing my undergrad in Accounting & Finance, I transitioned into the social impact space where I worked in microfinance and social impact consulting. I then transitioned into my family business, which is furniture manufacturing – a complete shift. Through this I’ve received unending support from my friends and family, as well as from my bosses and colleagues. Getting to where I am has taken a village and it’s been that diversity of guidance that encouraged me to push my boundaries and take exciting leaps in my career, the most recent of which is pursuing my MBA.

  • Choose a university program which offers modules related to your interests, so you benefit professionally. For Simonil, Ross’ MAP module, a 7 week out of classroom project, which required working in a team consulting a business, gave her the hands-on experience she needed to apply concepts taught in lectures in the real world.

Useful Information:

  • Sunil advises students to be comfortable with being themselves —from the beginning of their application throughout their entire MBA studies. This will allow you to get the most out of your experience.
