Welcome to PrepAdviser and thank you for your question.
These different types of programmes are targeted at different types of applicants. For example, full-time programmes are excellent for people looking for a career change – move to a new company, industry, country/region. Executive programmes are aimed at senior managers who usually intend to stay in their company at least in the short-term. Part-time, distance, modular MBA programmes are best for people who prefer to keep working and combine work and study.
For a while, full-time MBA programmes suffered some decrease in applications. The reason was that during the times of financial crisis professionals looked for part-time and executive formats in order to keep their jobs and still have the opportunity to improve their qualification.
