Hello everyone

I have been admitted to both IE & HEC MBA prog for 2017 Jan intake. I understand that similar questions have popped on this forum earlier as well, but I believe your inputs would help me a lot.

I am an Indian, commerce background, 4 yrs experience Risk Advisory – FMCG Retail, Middle East. Wish to start post MBA as strategy manager, eventually moving to General Mgmt in the long run - FMCG. Can you please advise which one I should choose:

1. Ok with coming back to Gulf, but would love to have some experience in Europe. I understand Europe is no match for savings in tax free Gulf, but would be happy to work at a not-so-hot place for a change (but not in a job that pays peanuts, some difference is ok) :D .
2. Learning itself is a big factor as well. Want to really come out transformed.
3. I understand IE has had better rankings than HEC for long (in Financial Times at least, where IE forms group A & HEC group B), but how does it all pan out in the job market, with their respective locations, placements & network?

Appreciate your inputs!

Hello tg001,

Congratulations on your MBA admission to two great European B-schools.

I would suggest that you check the reputation of these B-schools in the region and industry where you plan to develop your career upon graduation. This is more relevant than media rankings.

Take a final deep look into all that each B-school offers - curriculum, faculty, student profile, alumni network, career services, international exposure, culture, etc. - everything that will actually affect your overall experience.

Visit both campuses, if you haven't done so yet. This gives you personal impressions that you can trust.

The choice is yours and no one can tell you which B-school to choose because the decision is actually based on so many professional and personal factors and you know best what matters most to you.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Thanks for the reply. Frankly, I'm torn. This decision seems to be even tougher than the admission itself. The factors you mentioned are so similar for both of 'em that Im having a hard time deciding (except location of course).

Actually, what all I wrote above is all I have in mind/plan. Decision of course is mine, appreciate your take on this.

Hi again,

This is a tough moment, I know. Identify the top 3 factors that you care about most for your MBA studies and check in which school they prevail, Finally, there is nothing wrong just to trust your intuition.

Good luck!
