About the course

Digital literacy is more than knowing how to use a smartphone or a computer.

In an increasingly digitized world, digital literacy is now just as important as traditional literacy. So, it is no surprise that employer demand for skills in this area has surged.

Digital literacy is about using technology to find, use, and share information. It is also about understanding the importance of privacy, security and assessing the credibility of information.

This course explores skills, trends, and issues in digital literacy. You will also discover how to benchmark and evidence your digital literacy skills, which can help you advance in your career.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • The role of digital literacy in the jobs of today and the future
  • What digital literacy skills employers are looking for and why
  • Trends, issues, and opportunities related to the use of digital technologies in the workplace
  • Practical strategies for improving digital literacy
  • How to benchmark your digital literacy skills against international qualifications frameworks
  • Methods for displaying your expertise in digital literacy using Deakin’s Professional Practice credential criteria
