About ESMT Berlin business school Masters

ESMT Berlin is a private German business school founded by 25 multinational corporations. ESMT offers three degree programs: Master's in Management, Full-time MBA and an Executive MBA (EMBA) as well as executive education. All ESMT programs benefit from close relationships with ESMT's corporate network and founders and its global network of alumni in over 40 countries.

Master's in Management program

The Master's in Management (MIM) is a two-year, pre-experience program, combining applied work in companies with high-quality coursework and research on the latest management theories.

The courses are divided into two streams with a focus on international management. One stream (Quantitative Business) is designed for quantitative decision analysts with analytical backgrounds and one stream for creative and strategic thinkers interested in entrepreneurship and digital strategy (Innovative Management).

Depending on the stream, students can choose among four specializations:

  • Business Analytics
  • Finance & Investments
  • Entrepreneurship & Innovation
  • Global & Digital Strategy

    The program includes up to 11 months of internships and projects in German enterprises, Berlin start-ups or abroad. MIM students receive advice from ESMT and Career Services when choosing and applying to the internship. Current students were interning at (examples):

  • Boeing working in Market Research & Strategy Support
  • BOSCH working as Product Manager
  • Citi Bank working as Investment Banking & Placement Analyst
  • Daimler working as Risk Manager
  • Zalando working in the Analytics and Business Department

    In the second year, MIM candidates spend sxi weeks working on a Social Impact Project with an international NGO, non-profit, or social venture.

    All students learn an additional foreign language: German for international students and a global language for students who speak German (such as Spanish, Chinese or Russian).

    While working on their Master’s thesis, students have the opportunity of a second internship or may opt for working on a thesis topic in close coordination with a professor’s own research agenda.

    Admission information

    In order to enroll in the Quantitative Business stream:

  • Proof of strong quantitative abilities, whether with a degree in an analytical field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) or quantitative economics, finance, or a similar topic
  • OR a degree in any discipline with a strong GMAT score (top 20% globally in the quantitative section). A GMAT is highly recommended for all applicants to this stream.

    In order to enroll in the Innovative Management stream:

  • A degree in any discipline with excellent grades
  • GMAT or GRE is optional but may be requested in certain cases by the Admissions Team
